Gary Joe Benac, 65, of Hillman passed away Monday, March 23, 2009 at his home.

Born on February 21, 1944 to Orville and Lillian (Guy) Benac and married Linda Elkie on June 20, 1964. He was employed at Michigan Limestone Operations in Rogers City for 31 years before retiring in 1998. He enjoyed his grandchildren, hunting, camping, golfing, snowmobile races and going to Nascar races.

Gary is survived are his wife Linda of 45 years, his children Shelly Barsen, Joe (Juanita) Benac, Shandra (Bill) Koenig, Jory (Renee) Benac, Jeremy (LeeAnn) Benac; mother Lillian, 2 brothers Jack (Leslie), Tim (Anita); grandchildren: Chelsey, Alanna, Jacob Barsen,Kyle, Brandon, Kelsey Benac, Logan and Dakoda Koenig and Cassidy Benac.

He was preceded in death by his father Orville, infant sister Candace Benac, son-in-law Gregory Barsen.

Per his wishes cremation has taken place. Friends may call at the Bannan Funeral Home in Hillman on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday at Community of Christ Church in Lachine from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11 a.m. with Elder Kim Summerix officiating.
