Sarah "Sandy" Bedford, 83, of 451 Pinecrest, Alpena passed away Thursday, September 17, 2009 at home.

Born in Lakeview, Michigan on November 27, 1925 to the late William and Beartrice (Everett) Stanton and married Manley Bedford on December 23, 1945 in Battle Creek. He preceded her in death on December 22, 2000. Sandy worked at Master's Shoes berfore retiring in 1988. She was a member of Alpena Free Methodist Church, enjoyed gardening, reading and walking at the mall.

She is survived by three daughters, Bonnie Thompson of Alpena, Starrla Opferman (Jim) of Fort Gratiot and Brenda Olsen of Alpena; two sons, Clarence and wife Patricia Stanton of Battle Creek, Milo Mary Stanton of Battle Creek; 11 grandchildren: Shelley (Matt) Cooke, Angie Stanton, Craig Stanton, Mike (Amy) Thompson, Chris (Gretchen) Madden, Andy (Terrah) Opferman, Jada Olsen,Billy (Lori) Stanton, Margie (Ty) Thompson, Lenee St. John, Angel (Chris) Fritz; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister Tootie Stanton and brother LeRoy Gruner.

Mrs. Bedford was preceded in death by grandson Charlie; 5 sisters: Kitty, Mae, Helen, Margaret, Barbara and one brother Bert.

Mrs. Bedford is at Bannan Funeral Home where friends may call on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. and where funeral service will take place on Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Shane Bengry officiating.
