Lorraine Zakowski Alexander, 76, of 11542 Bell Bay Road, Presque Isle, MI passed away at Alpena Regional Medical Center on Monday, November 9, 2009.

Born on August 28, 1933 in Hamtramck, MI to the late Michael and Agatha (Gula) Zakowski, she married Kenneth Alexander on June 28, 1997.

Surviving are her husband, Kenneth Alexander; her five children: Roseanne Kobylarz Boley (Art) of Farmington Hills, MI, David Kobylarz of Texas, Karen Holman (Steve) of South Lyon, MI, Paul Kobylarz of Indiana, Michael Kobylarz of Florida; five grandchildren: Christina, Alexis, Tomek, Aldona, and Veronika; and Ken's family, three daughters: Julie Alexander-Kaczorowski (Kevin) of Alpena, Kendra Kruse of New York, Jennifer Dutcher (Tom) of Alpena; and eight grandchildren: Alisha, Jesse, Kortney, Dillon, Whitney, Harley, Eli and Jay.

Mrs. Alexander was preceded in death by four sisters: Wanda Sherba, Lottie Kolascz, Elinor Giza, Dolores Chludzinski; and one brother, Michael Zakowski.

Lorraine worked as an RN, retiring from Hospice in 2002. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends as well as gardening, painting and teaching painting at Alpena Senior Citizen's Center.

Visitation 2-8 p.m., Prayer Service and Rosary 7:30 p.m., Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the Bannan Funeral Home, 222 S. 2nd Ave., Alpena (989-354-8411). Visitation will continue on Friday, November 13, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2550 S. 1st Ave., Alpena (989-354-3292) from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Greg McCallum officiating.
